I realised I never did an #introduction - Hi everyone! I'm Matt Godbolt, and I love:
- low-level computer hackery & performance, learning & teaching
- compilers & tooling around compilation
- old hardware (particularly 6502-based UK computer BBC Micro)
I made video games, ran my own C++ tools company, and spent time at Google. Now landed in fintech.
I have an amazing (and tolerant of me) wife and 2 teenagish kids, 2 cats and a dog. I'm a Brit living in Chicago.
Pleased to be here!
I guess an #introduction is in order. Hi, I'm Roman, a #devops engineer and grad student at #georgiatech #omscs. I'm here for #journalism, #foss stuff, and #wildlifephotography. #lgbtq ally. Personally, I picked #hachyderm because I appreciated @nova's honesty about the tech and privacy situation.
#Mastodon guide for newcomers
1. Be Kind. This place thrives on kindness, unlike the other place
2. CW stands for content warning. If you think it might upset someone, put a content warning on it. It allows people to click through.
3. Follow, follow, follow. The more people you follow, the better the experience here.

Hi there! This is ACM, the world's largest computing society. As you might have noticed, we have opened not only our official #Mastodon account but also our own #instance!
Please consider joining @mastodon.acm.org, a community for #computing researchers & practitioners to connect & exchange ideas with each other, whether you are an ACM member or not.
You can use this link to join: https://mastodon.acm.org/invite/FbXaxAHg
Spread the word with your friends and colleagues! Happy tooting!
@seresearchers who is migrating to @ACM’s official ACM instance? ACM is trying to do the right thing here so I’m leaning toward supporting them by switching.
New beta! Coverage.py 7.0.0b1 is out: https://pypi.org/project/coverage/7.0.0b1/
Many small improvements to path handling and combining data, plus Markdown tables. Things might be broken! Let me know, please?
(boosting always appreciated, of course)
Has any one gotten #chatGPT3 to do a literature survey correctly? It summarizes the research in many fields reasonably well, but it always makes up papers. I couldn't get it to cite even a single real paper.
I am at SPLASH (Auckland) today; If you are there and would like to meetup, please drop me a note.
Pitest 1.10.0 has just been released. It includes some major internal changes which should improve support for quarkus and roboelectric projects.
